Entry deadline is January 2, 2009

The Sorel Organization is proud to announce the 1st piano collaboration competition to be awarded in the Spring of 2009. According to the by-laws of the Organization the competition is for women only, without any age restrictions.

Prizes
  1. A March 20th, 2009 performance at the home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York City, New York. The winner of the Sorel Medallion will collaborate with the professional choir Musica Sacra, Kent Tritle conducting and Margo Garrett playing piano.
  2. The cash prize will be $5000.00
  3. Travel and accommodations will be provided for the entire rehearsal and performance.
Submission
  1. All candidates must apply by January 2, 2009
  2. A letter of recommendation must accompany each application.
  3. A recent recording of Brahms Requiem 4 handed accompaniment or any Mozart concerto. Any Brahms Lieder that shows the applicant's gift.
  4. 3 copies of these recent recordings without the applicant's name on the recordings.
  5. A signed entry form.
Shortly after the deadline date the jury will choose the candidates for live auditions. Semi-finalists will be invited to attend the live audition scheduled for January 18-19th, 2009.

Live Audition
  1. The live audition will be in New York City at a location to be announced. Repertoire will be suggested prior to the audition.
  2. Kevin Deas, bass baritone, and Jorge Avila, violinist, will be at the live audition. Collaboration will be a part of the semi-final round.
The Jury

Dr. Ron Sadoff, Director of the Film Scoring program and former Piano Chair of New York University's Steinhardt School, will head the jury selection.
